U3A is an International Organisation based upon mututal self-help groups using their skills and interests for the enlightenment of others.
Our aim is to advance the education and social contact of our members from the retired residents of Hitchin and District.
Hitchin main group meetings normally take place fortnightly on a Monday at 2pm to 4pm in Christchurch Hall, Bedford Road, Hitchin, SG5 1JN. The hall has access for disabled people.
We usually have a guest specialist speaker and talks are on a wide variety of subjects. The meeting concludes with a chat amongst members over a cup of tea.
There are a number of special interest groups which meet about once a month at various local venues. We look forward to members leading new groups
New members are very welcome to the group meetings and prospective members can come along to two meetings as guests for £1 per meeting before joining for £18 a year.

The Virtual U3A (vU3a), which went live in January 2009, is an online-only U3A, affiliated to the Third Age Trust. One of its principal aims is to provide the U3A experience for those who are rendered isolated in some way by circumstances or geography and unable to play a full part in a terrestrial U3A. More information is available on the public website www.vu3a.org where one can also apply for membership. Why not pay it a visit? And if you know of anyone who might benefit, please pass the information on
